Rush Hour Sort
Rush Hour Sort is a short, point-and-click sorting puzzle about racing the clock and racing yourself.
How it works
Twelve colored items are scattered across the screen, with three bins at the bottom. Select an item, then click the bin that matches its color. The clock starts after a 3-2-1 countdown and does not stop until the last item is sorted.
Every mistake costs you; place an item in the wrong bin and 2 seconds are added to your time (careless clicking is slower than careful sorting).
Beat your own time
Your first completed run becomes your base time. It is set once and can only be changed using the reset button.
Every run after is a race against your base, on the same puzzle each time:
- The clock turns red once you pass your base time, meaning the run can no longer beat it.
- The results screen shows your time, your base time, and the difference between them (in green if you were faster and red if you were slower).
- A best-times leaderboard keeps your top three runs, each shown relative to your base time.

About this project
Rush Hour Sort was built in the Defold game engine as a prototype for a game design course, in a week themed around time and timers. Time drives the whole game loop: the countdown, the running clock, the penalty system, and the personal time you are always trying to beat.
